SKU: MM-PS-010 | Brand: Meng | Product: Meng 1/700 Aircraft Carrier Liaoning Plastic Model Kit The Type 001 Liaoning represents China's first commissioned aircraft carrier. Originally constructed as the Soviet-era Varyag, the incomplete hull was acquired from Ukraine in the late 1990s and successfully transported to China by 2002. Following extensive reconstruction and modernization over a decade-long period, Liaoning entered operational service in 2012 with pennant number 16. Continuous capability enhancements have expanded its combat effectiveness within the Chinese Navy. A comprehensive 2024 overhaul addressed structural integrity, radar systems, and electronic warfare equipment, significantly advancing information gathering, electronic countermeasures, and strike capabilities. Recent dual-carrier formation exercises in October 2024 demonstrated Liaoning operating alongside Shandong in coordinated naval operations. The MENG 1/700 scale model replicates the current Liaoning configuration, including recent modernization features. Pre-painted components and accurate structural detailing provide comprehensive representation of this historically significant platform.
