The Pz.Bef.Wg Panther was a modified version of the Panther tank, with additional communications equipment and a turret-mounted machine gun for close defense. "Zimmerit" refers to a paste-like coating that was applied to the tank's exterior to prevent magnetic anti-tank mines from sticking to the surface.

The Zimmerit coating consisted of a mixture of sawdust, glue, and other materials that created a rough, non-magnetic surface.

The Pz.Bef.Wg Panther with Zimmerit was used primarily as a command vehicle, with a crew of four or five and additional radios and other communications equipment.

The tank's powerful gun and mobility also made it a formidable opponent in battle.

Despite its advanced design and capabilities, the Panther tank suffered from reliability issues and was expensive and time-consuming to produce.

Nevertheless, it remained a key component of Germany's armored forces throughout the war.

In summary, the Pz.Bef.Wg Panther mit Zimmerit was a modified version of the Panther tank used as an armored command vehicle during World War II.

Its Zimmerit coating helped prevent magnetic mines from sticking to the tank's exterior, and its powerful gun and mobility made it a formidable opponent in battle.
